Darrell “Tutu” Jumper passed away in January after suffering a Covid19 related stroke. A gifted drummer with a beautiful voice, Darrell performed many times on ComFest stages as well as throughout Columbus and the county with bands including Ray Fuller and the Blues Rockers, Teeny Tucker, Terry Davidson and the Gears, The Patrick McLaughlin Band, Willie Pooch Band, The Dave Workman Band, The Columbus Jets, Hot Rod and the Blues Devilles, and many others.
While he was still in high school, Darrell was invited to back up the legendary singing group The Four Mints. The experience had a profound impact on him and he immersed himself in a variety of styles from jazz, rock, soul, and funk with the Blues as his foundation. He counted as his greatest influences Lenny White, Dave Garibaldi, Billy Cobham, and Rayford Griffin.
