ComFest is for people of all ages to enjoy and experience. Each year a dedicated group of volunteers create an area where kids rule. KiDSART is a festival within the festival. It becomes an exciting environment where kids shop around for their favorite activities and stake out a space of their own.
KiDSART is open from noon to 6 pm Saturday and Sunday at the picnic shelter west of the playground equipment.
A visitor to the KiDSART area will find face painting, t-shirt designing, and various craft activities. Kids can make their own music and sometimes make their own instruments. A wonderful project reusing plastic bottle tops engages kids in the creation of colorful collages.
It's not the glitter and glue, but the kids themselves that make KiDSART such a special place at ComFest. They inherently know what it takes to make KiDSART (and the world?) run smoothly. Kids 17 years old or younger patiently take turns, share the supplies, cooperate on group projects, share ideas with each other, make new friends, find the fun and clean-up their area before leaving.
KiDS PARADE
Have your kiddos ever talked about being a part of the music and entertainment at ComFest? Now they can. Grab a tambourine and bubble machine and join local artists and performers as we line up Sunday at 3pm at KiDSART and make a loop around the west lawns of Goodale Park. Bring your little ones (accompanied by an adult), big kids, and teens.
Hosted by Olivia Rainorshine of LivLove Arts and ComFest organizers Eliza Marlow, Mary Ramey, Lina Taylor and Marlena Holt. The parade was started in 2021 by Eliza and Olivia to bring smiles to kids faces after Covid. It’s also a way to thank the children who volunteer for ComFest set up and tear down. Each year we come together to march for peace and love through music. With accompaniment from local musicians, you can march alongside our super tall Stiltwalkers and join the fun with each giant step bringing us all closer together. This is a great opportunity to share the joy with community. Please arrive 15 minutes early to find your place in line. Look for the Stiltwalkers, they're hard to miss
